The Year 1 teacher is Mr Collingwood and we also have the fantastic Mrs Taylor and Mrs Thirsk working with us too! We have lots of exciting learning planned for you this year!

In Year 1, we continue to use the ReadWriteInc scheme as the foundation for our phonics teaching.

Summer 1:

In English, we are reading Man on the Moon and then Begu.

  

In science we are continuing to look at Materials.

 

In maths, we are finishing off place value to 50 and then looking at measuring length, height, mass and volume. Here is a useful link with some activities you could do at home. 

In RE, we are thinking about what is is like to be a part of a faith community.

In history, we are learning all about the history of space travel. Here are some fun games to help children to learn about space.

In English we are reading the story Poles apart. 

In science, we are looking at different materials and how they are used. Here is a useful website.

In RE we are continuing to look at Judaism.

In geography we are continuing to look at hot and cold paces.

Spring 1:

In English, we are reading Meerkat Mail followed by a non-fiction piece about Meerkats.
