Art at St Mary’s
Year 2 Experimenting with Watercolour
Year 2 have recently been practising mixing primary colours using watercolour paints. It is wonderful to see the children experimenting and effectively using their sketchbooks throughout their art lessons.
Year 3's Stone Age Art
As part of Year 3's Stone Age history unit, the children practised the ancient painting method of making their own paint by mixing berries and mud. The children loved sharing this ancient technique with their grown-ups at their Fabulous Finish and created some fantastic artwork!
Year 4's Ancient Greek Pottery
Year 4 have been learning all about Ancient Greece in their history lessons. Linking to their history work, the children focused on Ancient Greek pottery in their art and design lessons, by designing their own Greek vase. They analysed ancient pottery to observe the patterns and shapes the Greeks used within their designs.
